流れるように配されたうねり流水文様は、「清らかな流れ」「調和」「永続」を意味する吉祥文様。直線的ではなく、ゆるやかな起伏をもって描かれる水の流れが、静けさの中に動きを生み、奥行きのある表情を演出します。その水の上に舞う小桜紋は、「繁栄」「門出」「幸福」を象徴する日本を代表する花文様。満開の桜が水面に揺れる様子は、春の訪れとともに広がる希望や祝福を感じさせ、見る者の心をやさしく包み込みます。
The undulating water pattern, arranged as if flowing, is an auspicious motif symbolizing “pure flow,” “harmony,” and “perpetuity.” Drawn not with straight lines but with gentle undulations, the water’s flow creates movement within stillness, evoking a sense of depth. Dancing upon this water is the small cherry blossom motif, a quintessential Japanese floral pattern symbolizing “prosperity,” “new beginnings,” and “happiness.” The sight of fully bloomed cherry blossoms swaying on the water’s surface evokes the hope and blessings that spread with the arrival of spring, gently enveloping the onlooker’s heart.
さらに本作では、地紋にも桜の意匠を忍ばせることで、表層の文様と重なり合う多層的な表現を実現。視線を近づけるほどに、織りの奥から桜が浮かび上がり、静かな広がりと品のある華やぎを感じさせます。箔糸はあえて最小限に抑え、過度な輝きを避けることで、色糸が生み出すグラデーションの美しさを際立たせました。光の加減によって表情を変える西陣織ならではの繊細な織りが、控えめでありながら印象深い存在感を足元にもたらします。
Furthermore, this piece achieves a multi-layered expression by subtly incorporating cherry blossom motifs into the ground pattern, allowing them to overlap with the surface design.
